About Us:

The Tampa Panama Business Council was formed to focus on the promotion and development of relations between the business communities of the Greater Tampa Bay Area and that of the Republic of Panama.

The council is currently composed by some 30 companies and organizations from Tampa that joined to become founding members. There are a similar number of companies in Panama that will join to form the Panama Chapter.

Panama offers a great and unique opportunity for Tampa companies to do business and to position the Tampa Bay Area’s business communities to maximize participation in the growth of the economy there and in the eminent expansion of the Panama Canal. The canal expansion and its transparent procurement process will provide excellent contract opportunities either directly or as vendors to prime contractors for many years. Their port expansions have synergy with our own port’s expansions. The tourism growth diversifies the growth of their economy.

The hundred-years of US influence in Panama have left a legacy of good US relations and familiarity as well as US-like work ethic and business practices unique in Latin America. The great interest of the Port of Tampa, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and the Mayor of Tampa as well the fact that we have a Counsel General’s office in Tampa will insure sustainable support to private business to our organization. It is rare to be in a position to plan and prepare for what is so certain to lead to prosperous business opportunities.
